Week One: Eating Seasonally - October 5
Did you know that in order to optimize our health and prevent illness, we should be eating different foods at different times of the year? The ancient practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda focus on the concepts of heat, cold, yin and yang. Learn how to bring these philosophies into your food choices with practical advice and recipes for the changing seasons.
Autumnal equinox is the balance point between the two solstice and reminds us to be present with all aspects of ourselves; the active and passive, the logical and intuitive and from a place of equanimity new opportunities are revealed. Join us for a yang/yin practise designed to foster balance in ourselves and cultivate a sense of harvest and completion.
Week 2: Demystifying the Microbiome - October 19
By now, we’ve all heard about probiotics and that they’re good for our health. But what do they do, exactly? What kind should we be taking? Are they good for everyone? We will get into the nitty gritty of intestinal bacteria as it pertains to overall health, and discuss fermented foods such as keffir and kombucha, as well as other ways to feed your “good bacteria”.
Our yoga practise supports us in being more skillful in our lives, so we bring awareness and direct flow of energy and attention towards taking actions directly aligned with our dreams and best self. Join us for a practise designed to support how we manifest ourselves in the world and nurture a sense of personal power, confidence and responsibility.
Week 3: Immune Boost - November 2
It’s that time of year…back to school and back to work, which means colds and flus begin to rear their heads. Hear naturopathic tips for the whole family about boosting your immune system to prevent illness, as well as what to do if you get sick. We’ll talk about nutrition, easy home remedies, hydro(water)therapy, and more!
Our yoga practise provides a natural means of supporting the immune system on a day to day basis through asana, pranayama and meditation. Yoga helps lower stress hormones that compromise the immune system, while also conditioning the lungs and respiratory tract, stimulating the lymphatic system to oust toxins from the body and bring oxygenated blood to various organs to support their optimal function.
Pricing: $69.99 for the entire series/$59.99 each for you and a friend/$25 for a single class
